Life wasn’t good for Ann Voskamp. She told God His plans were “a gutted, bleeding mess.” Yet, when she learned to be thankful, everything changed.
I’ve been reading One Thousand Gifts, a book by Ann Voskamp.
Ann describes her difficult life, beginning in the year she turned four, with the tragic accident which took the life of her younger sister. Her parents were traumatised by the accident. It affected the whole family for the rest of their lives. Ann writes, “We had loved her. And with the laying of her gravestone, the closing up of her deathbed, so closed our lives. Closed to any notion of grace.”
