Working it Out Together

On Tuesday 25 June, 2024, my website, www.Jesusontheroad.com went live. How exciting! But the back story is one of several weeks of high-level learning, and lots of frustration.

All day Tuesday was filled with even more learning, researching, tweaking, setting up. I had already done many hours of internet searching and printing out articles. I had also done many hours of online tutorials. Unfortunately, the website design has changed since the tutorials were made. So, when they said, “Go here, and click on this thing,” the thing wasn’t there! Instead, there are dashboard pages that I knew nothing about. It’s like there was a secret code, that I just didn’t know.

I felt stupid. Why couldn’t I work it out? Frustration PLUS!

To tell the truth, it became so difficult that I considered pulling the plug on the whole thing.

In stepped my beloved hubby. He is not an IT guru, nor had he done any of the online tutorials. But he was kind enough to stand beside me and help me navigate through the process. I couldn’t do it without him, and he couldn’t have done it on his own.

One thing that I have always appreciated about him, is his willingness to stop whatever he is doing, and spend time helping me solve my problems. I really value his support of my projects, and his wisdom in discussing them with me.

I also appreciate hubby’s sense of humour. He said, “Doing this [website creation] is good for dementia prevention.” I certainly hope so!

Doing this work together isn’t always easy. It’s easier to get frustrated with each other, and blame the issues on the other person, and their lack of communication skills. It’s easy for the other person to become the enemy, so that we don’t see the real problem, nor can we solve it.

Thank the Lord that we were able to work it out together. Thank the Lord for experiences like this that test our relationship yet teach us how to cooperate. In the end, it’s our relationships that matter most.

Our most important relationship is with God. We thank God for each other, and we thank God for the opportunity to share Him through this blog. We pray that you will be encouraged as you work through the frustrations in your own life.

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV)

One response to “Working it Out Together”

  1. I love your transparency and humanity. It’s so true that it’s easier to give up. Thank goodness for good, calm husbands. In the Bible it says something like, two are better than one, because if you fall in a ditch the other can help you out.
